Mr. Smith and Judge Gattis reviewed several sites for the location of the Williamson County Ag Expo Center. Mr. Smith recommended the renovation and addition to an existing open sided and little used cattle arena in Taylor , Texas. The selected 95 acre site is part of the former Blackland Prairie Farmland and is served by several arterial highways. Taylor is the hometown of legendary rodeo cowboy, Bill Picket and the new facility is designed to expand the tradition of Texas Rodeo. The dirt arena is 120’ X 280’ and seats 3,000 attendees. A 100’ x 150’ covered warmup ring is attached to the building. Other components include a 240 stall barn, 20,000 SF covered livestock holding area and 15,000 SF heated and air conditioned multi-purpose space. The facility is also designed to accommodate a growing population to host a variety of livestock, equestrian and entertainment events.
